Summary

When your nemesis also happens to be your fiancé, happily ever after becomes a lot more complicated in this wickedly funny, lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy debut。

Naomi Westfield has the perfect fiancé: Nicholas Rose holds doors open for her, remembers her restaurant orders, and comes from the kind of upstanding society family any bride would love to be a part of。 They never fight。 They're preparing for their lavish wedding that's three months away。 And she is miserably and utterly sick of him。

Naomi wants out, but there's a catch: whoever ends the engagement will have to foot the nonrefundable wedding bill。 When Naomi discovers that Nicholas, too, has been feigning contentment, the two of them go head-to-head in a battle of pranks, sabotage, and all-out emotional warfare。

But with the countdown looming to the wedding that may or may not come to pass, Naomi finds her resolve slipping。 Because now that they have nothing to lose, they're finally being themselves--and having fun with the last person they expect: each other。

This book was so amazing! You do not understand until you read it。 I thought it would be this lighthearted rom-com type book, and at parts it was, but it was so much more than that。 It was a beautifully, curated love story! I weeped at the ending and the love I felt through the pages。

pretty good。 made me laugh。 but I still didn't like the kind of people they were at the beginning that they would treat each other like that。 kind of rushed ending。 I also couldn't get over the feeling that their love felt like a honeymoon phase and wouldn't last。 pretty good。 made me laugh。 but I still didn't like the kind of people they were at the beginning that they would treat each other like that。 kind of rushed ending。 I also couldn't get over the feeling that their love felt like a honeymoon phase and wouldn't last。 。。。more

In any case, I still had a few doubts at this stage about the ability to salvage these flawed characters and to break down the wall between them but the author really surprised me with how well she pulled this off - even though it was a liiiiittle too corny for me at times (but what's a romance without some Corn™?)。 This love to hate to love again relationship definitely got me back into the romance reading mood and I'm super happy about that。 The authorial voice had me hooked from the beginning but you really have to be a skilled writer to make me buy into a trope I usually hate with a passion, which is miscommunication, and the whole plot hinges around how poorly these two communicate with each other。 Serves to prove that any trope done right can be enjoyable, even the ones you usually hate! Sometimes it gave me "The Hating Game" vibes due to the character dynamic between our two protagonists but it's not a carbon copy and it pulls off a few things better than THG did。 I'd say the tone of the humour is within the same range but dialed down a notch for more meaningful character development。 As I said before, it sometimes got a little too sappy for me, but overall I really enjoyed reading this story and the two characters definitely deserved each other at their worst but also and most importantly at their best。 Looking forward to reading more from this author! 。。。more

I at first didn’t like these characters, but Nicholas turned out to be great。 Glad Naomi had personal growth。 There were points where I couldn’t put the book down。 I wish the last time we heard about Nicks mom was a little different, that Naomi would meet Heather, and that they’d actually start using the chefs actual name。 The last 5 pages were a little disappointing, but overall it was a good book that evoked emotion out of me。

You deserve to read this book。 Never have I realized I wanted two characters together。 This is a perfect book if you are looking for ‘not the typical romance’, something steamy, and legit comedy。 This book made me genuinely laugh on so many occasions。 Sarah Hogle is an author to keep an eye out for!

Cassandra

The second chance trope is superior。

This was such a cute book。 I was sometimes a little bit confused as to what‘s the plan of Naomi because some of her actions didn‘t make sense to me。 Also it was a bit slow at the beginning。 The transformation from ‚enemies‘ to lovers was nicely done because it wasn‘t too fast but step by step which made it believable。 Also I cried a little at the end because Nick was so cute。 I think this book transports also a very important message when it comes to relationships。 Because not everything will al This was such a cute book。 I was sometimes a little bit confused as to what‘s the plan of Naomi because some of her actions didn‘t make sense to me。 Also it was a bit slow at the beginning。 The transformation from ‚enemies‘ to lovers was nicely done because it wasn‘t too fast but step by step which made it believable。 Also I cried a little at the end because Nick was so cute。 I think this book transports also a very important message when it comes to relationships。 Because not everything will always be good, there will be bad times but even in these bad times you have to be willing to work on your relationship and not give up。 It also shows that communication is such an important part of a relationship and you shouldn‘t take everything for granted your partner does for you, even though it‘s only small things。 I think this is an important message and the book transported it so well! 。。。more

2 stars for the first 50% - 4 stars for the last 50%, so I'll average it out。The first half suffered greatly from many of the same issues as the movie "How To Lose a Guy In Ten Days" (which I hated!)。 It's just。。。 not pleasant to read about a couple deliberately setting out to hurt the other person。 Fortunately in this case it was less "hurt" and more "play pranks upon", meaning I never really considered giving up on it, but still - I was seriously wondering why it had been recommended to me。How 2 stars for the first 50% - 4 stars for the last 50%, so I'll average it out。The first half suffered greatly from many of the same issues as the movie "How To Lose a Guy In Ten Days" (which I hated!)。 It's just。。。 not pleasant to read about a couple deliberately setting out to hurt the other person。 Fortunately in this case it was less "hurt" and more "play pranks upon", meaning I never really considered giving up on it, but still - I was seriously wondering why it had been recommended to me。However, the second half redeemed it for me。 Suddenly they were fighting for each other instead of against each other, and it made all the difference。 I still thought certain aspects were resolved too quickly and easily (especially regarding Nicky's mother), but loved seeing them present a united front and build each other up, instead of tearing each other down。 。。。more

‘There’s no one else I want to torture but you。’3。5 ⭐️I won’t lie, when I started reading this I was like wtf was I thinking 😂 but I actually began to find this book really addictive。 Was Nicholas’ and Naomi’s relationship healthy at the beginning of the book? Not really。 Did I enjoy their battle of the wills though with their spiteful little games and sarcasm? Yes 😂 I did root for them towards the end of the book, when they fell in love again after laughing over their games, actually talking to ‘There’s no one else I want to torture but you。’3。5 ⭐️I won’t lie, when I started reading this I was like wtf was I thinking 😂 but I actually began to find this book really addictive。 Was Nicholas’ and Naomi’s relationship healthy at the beginning of the book? This wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t good。 Honestly 3 stars might be a little too high。 The first two chapters were rough as hell to get through but it definitely got better pass that。 I think this book would have benefited greatly from having Nicholas’s point of view to be honest。 I felt like I was reading a first or second draft, the book just wasn’t complete。

Absolutely loved this book。 I legit cackled at some of their pranking scenes。 Well paced and a fun read。 Their romance was so sweet too。

Sarah Hogle did not disappoint with this one! There were so many different times while reading that I couldn’t stop laughing。 Naomi and Nicholas were the perfect image of nemesis to lovers。 If you’re looking for a book with some sass in it, I highly recommend this one! 4。5 stars for me

I found that the characters were less pranky and more emotionally cruel to one another。 I simply could not connect。

The first few chapters were really unimpressive。 But when the main character and her fiancé figure out that they equally despise eachother, things start getting interesting。 This book shows that no love story can be perfect。 You fall in love, get engaged and things can fall apart because life is never what you imagine it to be。 But the main characters start being honest just to spite each other and end up communicating honestly and it just made my eyes tear up。 I’m so glad they fought for eachot The first few chapters were really unimpressive。 But when the main character and her fiancé figure out that they equally despise eachother, things start getting interesting。 This book shows that no love story can be perfect。 You fall in love, get engaged and things can fall apart because life is never what you imagine it to be。 But the main characters start being honest just to spite each other and end up communicating honestly and it just made my eyes tear up。 I’m so glad they fought for eachother。 The writing was so hilarious and the banter between them was the highlight and I couldn’t get enough of it。 I loved the book but thought it could’ve been better。 。。。more
